With an above-average hurricane season starting June 1st, FPL meteorologist Chris Kerr and his colleague Tim Drum provide expertise and forecasts that help FPL crews restore power safely and as quickly as possible.

FPL challenged its employees with a simulated hurricane during the company’s annual Storm Drill.

The 2023 hurricane season ends today, and thankfully FPL customers were spared a direct hit. While not everyone was spared, FPL's investments in strengthening the energy grid are paying dividends and improving our resilience against Florida's increasingly severe weather.

Idalia has strengthened into a hurricane, continues to intensify and has the potential to impact customers prior to its likely landfall Wednesday on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Idalia will cause widespread power outages and could remain at hurricane strength as it crosses the state.
