FPL rates will decrease beginning in May to reflect $379 million in projected fuel savings for the remainder of the year. The Florida Public Service Commission unanimously approved the new rates.

The Florida Public Service Commission unanimously approved new rates starting in April. FPL has also proposed a decrease in May. The approved rates cover hurricane and fuel costs from 2022.

FPL’s proposed plan reduces customer fuel charges beginning in May. The plan would partially offset proposed bill increases that would pay for 2022 hurricane restoration and higher fuel costs.

The hundreds of millions of dollars in savings are the result of federal production tax credits on the large-scale solar energy centers FPL is building throughout Florida.

Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) energy experts will hit the road this summer to assist customers in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and Bay counties.
