Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) has completed power restoration to more than 95% of customers affected by Hurricane Isaias – including those in the hardest hit areas of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
FPL has restored power to schools and critical facilities across the affected area that can safely receive power, helping ensure they are ready to reopen or resume operations.
While this means that most customers have their lights back on, some customers in the hardest-hit areas may still be without power due to extensive damage, difficult access or damage to their homes or businesses that prevents them from safely receiving power. Crews will continue working in these areas and will not stop until every customer is restored.
“In the days, weeks and months ahead, weakened trees and branches may fall and affect power lines,” said FPL President and CEO Scott Bores. “FPL crews will continue identifying and making needed repairs to strengthen the system to pre-storm state, while addressing storm-related issues as they emerge.”
FPL plans to keep customer outage relief stations open in the hardest-hit communities to support customers who remain without power as restoration work continues.
By the numbers:
- More than 422,000 outages restored – more than 95% of customers affected by the storm.
- More than 141,000 outages avoided due to FPL’s smart grid technology.
- Nearly 17,000 restoration workers deployed from 29 states.
- 15 staging and parking sites to position crews, equipment and resources where they’re needed most.
- More than 660 completed drone and helicopter flights to assess damage and help aid restoration efforts.
