The latest: Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) is providing mutual assistance to customers across the Southeast who have been affected by Hurricane Helene.
Why it matters: Helping each other after natural disasters is a hallmark of the energy industry. Usually, it’s others from across the country coming to our aid in Florida. In this case, while we’re still cleaning up from Hurricane Helene’s impact to our service territory, we’re able to send some crews to help rebuild some of the damaged Southeastern power grid. Our crews, many of them veterans of other hurricanes, including Helene, are prepared and ready to help try to bring back a sense of normalcy to our neighbors to the north.
What FPL is doing:
- Committed hundreds of FPL lineworkers, contractors and support staff to assist with restoration and rebuilding across the Southeastern U.S.
- FPL’s mutual assistance crews will be working 16-hour days and keeping restoration going around the clock.
