JUNO BEACH, Fla., March 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida Power and Light Company's sixth annual "Power to Care" week gave employees the opportunity to make a difference in the communities in which they live and work. The week-long event included 1,300 volunteers who participated in 29 volunteer projects across the state.
"Power to Care" week spanned 12 counties throughout the state and included participation from all levels of the company, including NextEra Energy Chairman and CEO Jim Robo and FPL President Eric Silagy.
"While FPL continues to provide its customers with safe, reliable electricity and the lowest residential bills in the state, we are also committed to the communities we serve. It's a commitment to our customers who are also our neighbors," said Pamela Rauch, vice president of Development and External Affairs for FPL. This year's Power to Care events included projects in Palm Beach, Collier, Broward, Indian River, Miami-Dade, Brevard, Lee, Martin, Putnam, Sarasota, Seminole and St. Lucie counties. Volunteers helped out at food banks, schools, parks and more.
