Opening of application period for FPL solar rebates rescheduled for June 29 at 8:30 a.m.

JUNO BEACH, Fla. – Florida Power & Light Company customers who are interested in installing solar water heating and solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in their homes and businesses as part of a new pilot program can apply for rebates at www.FPL.com/solarrebates starting at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29.

The application window was originally scheduled to open at 8:30 a.m. June 21. However, visitors to FPL’s website experienced significant delays in page-loading due to an unrelated technical issue that impacted the overall performance of FPL.com. The issue occurred prior to 8:30 a.m. on June 21. It was not related to customers visiting the website to apply for solar rebate programs and will not impact the fair distribution of the available rebate funding.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. While the issue was fixed within a few hours, we have opted to postpone the application period launch in order to ensure the rebate process continues to be fair to all customers. This will allow ample time to widely communicate the new launch date, enabling our customers to adjust their plans accordingly,” said Marlene Santos, FPL’s vice president of customer service.

Rebates will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for residential and business customers who are planning to install solar water heating or solar photovoltaic (PV) panels. The program is designed to help reduce energy consumption and peak demand and is part of a pilot project approved by the Florida Public Service Commission.

Customers can go online at www.FPL.com/solarrebates to view program details and application checklists to ensure they have all of the necessary information ready to complete the application on June 29.
