Safety planning booklets to be mailed to residents in the vicinity of the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant

MIAMI, Fla.. -- Florida Power & Light Company is mailing "Safety Planning Information For Neighbors of the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant" booklets to homes and businesses within 10 miles of the plant.  The information is effective Dec. 2007.

The Safety Planning Information booklets are being distributed as part of an ongoing effort to share information to individuals working or living near the Turkey Point Plant. The 20-page booklet describes what to do in the unlikely event of an emergency at the plant. It contains information on plant safety systems and other measures designed to protect the public and the environment.  It was produced in cooperation with the Miami-Dade County Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security, the Monroe County Department of Emergency Management and the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management.

All homes and businesses receiving these booklets should keep the information for reference should it be needed.  Individuals within 10 miles of the Turkey Point Plant who have not received a booklet by Jan. 30 should contact either the Miami-Dade County Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security at (305) 468-5400 or Monroe County Department of Emergency Management at (305) 289-6018.
