HUTCHINSON ISLAND, Fla.— See a florid flash of fireworks at Florida Power & Light Company's popular “Family Sunday” series on Sunday, October 28. Mik Jacobs, an award winning theatrical director, writer and entertainer, will present “Blazing Science,” a unique, entertaining and educational program on the science of fire and energy. Sponsored by the FPL Energy Encounter, this presentation will be held at the St. Lucie nuclear power plant’s picnic pavilion located at Gate G.
“Blazing Science” is a 45-minute live presentation that covers science benchmark standards such as FCAT and contains plenty of spark and flash demonstrations to engage and inspire elementary, middle school and homeschool students and family audiences. The event is free with shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Directional signs will be posted to direct visitors to the picnic pavilion.
Mik Jacobs has performed in motion pictures, television, theatre and major theme parks including Universal Studios, Disney MGM and Sea World of Florida. He has been writing and performing original museum theatre and science programs for over a decade with prominent institutions including the Orlando Science Center.
