HUTCHINSON ISLAND, Fla. – The Energy Encounter, an energy education center sponsored by Florida Power & Light Company, will be closed temporarily on Sunday, June 24 due to the delivery and movement of large equipment in the parking area. The Energy Encounter will reopen as usual on Monday, June 25 at 10 a.m.
Located at FPL's St. Lucie nuclear power plant on A1A between Stuart and Ft. Pierce, the center features hands-on exhibits on energy, electricity and nuclear power. Normal hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday through Friday. Admission is free.
