JUNO BEACH, Fla. – While Tropical Storm Barry brings strong winds and heavy rains to Florida’s west coast, Florida Power & Light Company is ready to respond with a well-tested restoration plan, which can be scaled up or down as conditions warrant. The company has resources and crews in position to respond to outages that occur as a result of the storm.
Above all, FPL urges its customers to keep their families safe. Heavy rains, possible tornadoes and high winds may impact electrical infrastructure, cause downed power lines and create a safety hazard.
- Stay far away from downed power lines, flooding and debris. Don’t walk in standing water and don’t venture out in the dark because it’s difficult to see a downed power line -- that could be energized and dangerous.
- If customers see an electrical line down, call 911 or FPL at 1-800-4OUTAGE.
FPL reminds customers they can visit www.FPL.com for more information regarding hurricane tips including generator safety, precautions regarding downed power lines, flooding, protecting electric equipment and much more.
