FPL's Manny Rodriguez named to Board of Directors and Development Committee of Cuban American National Council, Inc.

JUNO BEACH, Fla. – Manny J. Rodriguez, regional director of external affairs for Miami-Dade County at Florida Power & Light Company has been named as a member of the Board of Directors and to the Development Committee of the Cuban American National Council, Inc. (CNC).  The CNC is a non-profit organization providing human services to persons in need from all racial and ethnic groups.  CNC assists individuals in becoming self reliant, builds bridges among America’s diverse communities and has pioneered alternative education models in South Florida. CNC has become one of the largest Hispanic non-profit developers of section 202 housing serving low-income elderly in the United States.  Since 1972, CNC has been funded by both the private and public sectors to plan, negotiate, and manage numerous grants and contract agreements.

 Mr. Rodriguez, a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida, joined FPL in 1968 and has held positions in FPL Engineering, Customer Services and External Affairs areas. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami, an MBA from Florida International University and is a graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Business Executive Program and the Brookings Institution. He was awarded “The 1982 Engineer of the Year Award” by the Association of Cuban Engineers, and “2001 Man of the Year” by the Theodore R. Gibson Memorial Fund. Mr. Rodriguez is a member of the Board of The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, the Hialeah Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Miami YMCA, the Zoological Society, the Latin Builders Association, the Coconut Grove Playhouse and the Gibson Memorial Fund.
