JUNO BEACH, Fla. -- Florida Power & Light Company has postponed two open house meetings scheduled for this week due to tropical storm conditions presently threatening the state. FPL will reschedule the community open houses for the Bobwhite-Manatee transmission line project at a later date in September. The open house events are one of several ways interested community members can speak with FPL’s project team about the route for a new transmission line that is needed to serve the growing area.
“Our plan is to reschedule these events once the storm has passed so that we can meet with interested community members and share ideas about the route that’s needed for the new transmission line,” said Mel Klein, external affairs manager, for FPL.
FPL plans to construct the 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line to connect a recently upgraded power plant near Parrish in Manatee County to a new substation to be located east of I-75 in Sarasota County.
Interested community members are encouraged to continue to communicate with the company through e-mail at Bobwhite-ManateeProject@FPL.com. FPL will continue to update the project Web site, http://www.fpl.com/Bobwhite, throughout the process. Alternatively, a toll free telephone number is available (1-800-951-8849).
