FPL Energy, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc. , today announced construction has begun on a 25.5 megawatt wind farm in Iowa County, Wisconsin. The wind farm, which FPL Energy will build, own and operate, is expected to begin generating power by spring 2001. The power from the 17 wind turbines will be purchased by Wisconsin Electric, which will add the wind energy to its existing renewable energy portfolio. The power from the wind farm will serve the energy needs of more than 5,000 homes annually.
