FPL Energy Services Sells Gas Service In New Markets Throughout Florida
September 14, 2000

FPL Energy Services is expanding its natural gas service to include more Florida business customers. Beginning this fall, pending the approval of the Public Service Commission, FPL will begin natural gas service to businesses in additional metropolitan areas such Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Daytona Beach, and Miami Beach among others.

"The FPL Group family history and experience in the energy market positions us to offer customers highly competitive prices and reliable delivery," said Dave Elford, product manager for FPL Energy Services. Florida Power & Light Company, FPL Group's principal subsidiary and the parent company of FPL Energy Services, is the largest buyer of natural gas in the state.

In the last two years, new regulations have resulted in more competition to supply gas to businesses in other parts of the state. Previous markets to unfold include parts of western Miami-Dade, Brevard, and Indian River Counties. Recent Florida Public Service Commission rulings will allow even more businesses to take advantage of a competitive market.

FPL Energy Services, an affiliate of Florida Power & Light Company and one of the largest marketers of gas in Florida, currently serves a variety of businesses throughout the state including hospitals, hotels, manufacturers and restaurants. FPL Energy Services is an integrated energy services company, which also develops, designs, installs and invests in cost-effective energy conservation projects for institutional, commercial and industrial organizations.

FPL Group, Inc. , with annual revenues of more than $6 billion, has been serving Florida for more than 75 years.
