FPL's Energy Encounter Offers Program 'How Does FPL Respond To Severe Weather?'

FPL Energy Encounter is offering "How Does FPL Respond to Severe Weather?" on Wednesday, August 9, from 10 a.m. until noon.

As part of the Wonderful Wednesdays series of adult programs, participants will have an insider's view of how FPL handles severe weather.

FPL employees will explain the company's restoration plan as it relates to safety, efficiency, and priorities. Barry Anderson, power systems restoration manager, will talk about how FPL determines who has lost service and what repairs are needed.

Emergency planning personnel from the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant will talk about preparations and precautions at the nuclear plant. Learn how FPL evaluates whether to continue to operate power plants that may be in the direct path of a hurricane. Recent events such as Hurricanes Floyd and Irene will be discussed.
