FPL and Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches kick-off school year with bag-stuffing event

Hundreds of underprivileged Palm Beach County students are ready for the new school year because of the generosity of employees of NextEra Energy companies and Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches.

Not only did employees donate the supplies, they also prepared them for students. Dozens of workers reminisced about their own days in school as they stuffed paper, crayons, glue and much more into 200 backpacks on Aug. 13, 2012.

NextEra Energy's Community Relations and Community Volunteer Corps teamed up with Adopt-A-Family to help children in the organization’s new Homeless Resource Center. Adopt-A-Family Development Director Chere Brodi was thrilled by the turnout, “I can’t tell you how many smiles you all have put on children’s faces! Children who were very surprised and very thankful!  Thank you!  Thank you!"

Adopt-A-Family is dedicated to restoring families in crisis to stability and self-sufficiency by providing access to all encompassing services to families and their children.
