FPL thanks its customers for helping more than 30,000 families in need

This Thanksgiving, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) gives thanks to the thousands of FPL customers who have generously donated more than $2.5 million to FPL Care To Share® since 2006. Their contributions helped more than 30,000 Floridians in need pay their electric bills.

“Year after year I am amazed by the generosity of our customers and grateful for their donations to this valuable program," said Louis Gonzalez, FPL’s Care To Share program manager. "On behalf of the thousands of customers whose lives you’ve touched, thank you, you’ve made a difference.”

The FPL Care To Share program has helped about 68,000 Florida families since the program was founded in 1984 thanks to NextEra Energy shareholders, employees and generous customers. Since 2006, NextEra Energy shareholders have contributed $1 million per year for a total of $7 million.  All contributions are collected by FPL and then distributed through a network of nonprofit human-services agencies. There are no administrative fees, so every penny donated goes directly to those in need.

FPL customers can donate to the program by checking the Care To Share box when paying their bill online or in the mail or by mailing a check made out to the program. For more information, visit www.FPL.com/caretoshare.
