FPL's Energy Encounter Offers Program 'Crocs and Gators'
October 2, 2000

FPL Energy Encounter, as part of the Wonderful Wednesdays series of adult programs, is presenting "Crocs and Gators" on Wednesday, October 11 from 10 a.m. until noon.

Joseph Wasilewski, a wildlife biologist, is keeping track of crocs and gators for Florida Power and Light and will have some of them at the Energy Encounter presentation. During the session, Wasilewski will explain how he catches and tags crocodiles for research. He will also explain why these reptiles are an important part of the ecology of Florida's wetlands.

Wasilewski has appeared on the "Tonight Show," "Rescue 911" and numerous movies and commercials. "The more we learn about the animals' movement, the better we can manage them in the future," Wasilewski says. "We can utilize this information to help these endangered species not just in Florida but around the world."

Don't miss this rare opportunity. Reservations are required. Please call 1-877-FPL-4FUN (1-877-375-4386) for additional information. The Energy Encounter, an energy education center sponsored by Florida Power & Light Company, is located at FPL's St. Lucie nuclear plant on A1A between Stuart and Ft. Pierce.
